8 Ideas On How School Kids Should Get More Organised

Developing organizational skills is a key point for school kids to achieve success in academics and in real life too. CBSE school students may find it difficult to manage all the assignments and work along with other activities they indulge in. If you are a parent, you might be observing that your child has built-up stress and is getting less sleep in order to catch up on all the necessary things. So, getting organized is very essential for school kids to develop good habits and become productive.

We will list 8 ideas on how school students should get more organised:

Create and follow a routine

Establishing a weekly routine is the first strategy for getting organised. Think about the things that are very important which you should mention in your routine like when you will do your homework, when you will go out to play or when you will go to bed and so on. A parent should help their child by reminding them about the things included in their routine. However, it is sometimes difficult to follow a routine strictly but this basic structure will help your child to be on track.

Keep a checklist

Keeping a checklist that includes homework, assignments, exam dates, family and social events etc helps a lot in planning one step further. For a CBSE high school student, who has so much to do, a to-do list will be helpful in managing tasks at the right time. Mark a cross on the completed items and check all the remaining list every day to stay focused on the plan.

Avoid multitasking

When getting bored with one task, students generally jump on the other without completing the task he is working on right now. Also, some of them do their homework and watch TV at the same time. An organised student should not involve in more than one task at a time and he should concentrate on completing them one by one.

Time management

Just making a routine and planner is not enough, you should also manage your time in order to reach your target. It is important for a student to find time to study even when he/she does not have homework. Set an appropriate timer for your work as it arises a sense of urgency. Parents should encourage their child by rewarding them sometimes with a small snack or things which they like for reaching their targets.

Remove all the distractions

Before going to study, it is important to eliminate the distractions around. It is normal for a student to get distracted with things like notifications, texts and calls on mobile phones while they are studying. So, it is suggested to turn off mobile data and put your phone in another room before going to work.

Make use of sticky notes

Put sticky notes on the door or wall which will remind you of the things you don’t want to forget. For example, if you have to bring cardboard to school the next day, write “cardboard” on the note and stick it to the door and whenever you see it, you will get reminded to bring it.

Learn to say no

When a student is learning to be organised, he should set his boundaries and say no to people for things that matter the most. It is good to fix times for going out with friends and extra activities. He should never feel bad for saying no if he is aimed at being effective and productive.

Prepare for the next day

Help your child by preparing them for the day ahead. They should pack their bags and all the schoolwork before going to bed. Also, school uniforms, shoes, and other accessories should be arranged in a way that would help them get ready for school very quickly.

All the above-given ideas will surely help in making a school kid organized. A student might panic on how to manage all those things together at a time. But, there’s no need to worry. Start doing things step by step like one habit a week and you will soon reach the target of adapting all these things in your life. For parents, it is suggested to set an example by using a routine and planner for themselves too which will motivate their child to make serious efforts on getting organized. There are even some best CBSE high Schools that have a good reputation for organizing kids with a better future perspective.
